Long Island Immigrant Student Advocate’s mission:  We are a non-profit organization founded in 2010 whose goal is to support immigrant students obtain a higher education by providing resources, promoting youth leadership development, advocating for an equal education system, and pro-immigrant students legislations. Our mission is to promote education, one of the most fundamental values for a student’s personal development, and provide students resources within LIISA and other organizations to help them achieve their career goals. Our vision is to work for higher education for all immigrant students regardless of immigration status, provide scholarship funds and other programs to increase the rate of immigrant students graduating with a professional degree.

 

You are ideal for this scholarship if:

  • You live on Long Island.
  • You are a High School student grades 9th through 12th or College student.
  • You are first generation student or of immigrant background
  • You are a student needing financial support for any summer program and/or College or other post-secondary programs.
  • You are a volunteer in your community, high school, or college (in any capacity) or have aspirations to keep growing, learning, and helping others.

Please submit a creative piece that can adequately answer the following question:

★ What does immigrant youth leadership look or mean to you and how will your education lead you to become a future leader?

This creative piece could be an essay, a Tik Tok, video, graphics, poetry, artwork, website, song, a PowerPoint, a Prezi, an animation, etc)

★ Please submit proof of registration to the program you are using the scholarship for. If not
registered for a program yet, please submit a statement explaining the current situation.

★ Email application to LIISAEDU@GMAIL.COM with the subject line: Scholarship Summer
2021.

★ Submission deadline no later than June 25th, 2021 AT 6:00 PM EST.
